However it came to effect on 26january1950.we celebrate 26th january as the Republic Day of India. 26january chosen as The Republic Day because it was on this day in1930 when declaration of indian independence known as Purna Swaraj was proclaimed by the indian national congress as oppose to the Dominion status offers by British regiment.
